Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jake Bloss is aiming to work his way back to the major leagues after spending nearly all of last season rehabbing from UCL surgery.

The 2025 campaign was expected to be a pivotal one for Jake Bloss, who entered the year as potential starting pitching depth for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Instead, his season was derailed in May when he underwent Tommy John surgery, limiting him to just a handful of appearances before being shut down for the remainder of the year.
Prior to the procedure, Bloss made six starts with the Buffalo Bisons, posting a 6.46 ERA and a 4.78 FIP across 23.2 innings.
He struck out 20.9 percent of opposing hitters while walking 11.3 percent, showing flashes of his upside despite inconsistent results.

Bloss looking at mid-season return, likely with Buffalo Bisons for rotation depth

Bloss has long been praised for his strong baseball IQ and pitch mix.
His fastball typically sits in the mid-90s and has reached as high as 98 mph, while his secondary arsenal includes an above-average curveball and slider. He also mixes in a fringy cutter and a below-average changeup.

Control was one of Bloss' standout traits prior to surgery, though command is often the last element to fully return following Tommy John rehab.
That will be a key area to monitor as he progresses.
Baseball America currently ranks Bloss as the Blue Jays' ninth-best prospect entering spring training.
While he's not expected to return to game action until midseason, the focus will be on whether he can reestablish himself as the same pitcher he was before the injury.
