The Toronto Blue Jays have signed former Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Phillipe Aumont to a minor-league contract.

According to the Blue Jays official transaction log, the 37-year-old has come out of retirement to join the organization.
Aumont, a Gatineau, Que. native, last appeared in affiliated baseball with the Detroit Tigers in 2018 and last pitched in the majors with the Phillies in 2015.
Aumont is no stranger to the Toronto Blue Jays. He was a non-roster invitee at Toronto’s spring training in 2020 and later represented Team Canada at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
During that tournament, he logged three innings across two outings, striking out four while allowing just one earned run.

Aumont is expected to suit up for Team Canada again at the upcoming WBC

Originally selected in the first round of the 2007 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners, the 6-foot-7 right-hander went on to pitch 43.2 innings at the major-league level, posting a 6.80 ERA over four seasons with Philadelphia.
After being released midway through the 2015 campaign, he signed a minor-league deal with Toronto and finished that year at Triple-A Buffalo, making five appearances.
Aumont spent the following seasons bouncing around the minors with the Chicago White Sox and Tigers organizations, while also pitching in independent ball for the Ottawa Champions in 2017 and 2019.
He signed another minor-league deal with the Blue Jays ahead of the 2020 season, but the pandemic wiped out the minor-league schedule, leading to his retirement that September.
Now back in uniform, Aumont will look to make an unlikely return to the major leagues with Toronto.
