According to the team's transaction log, the Blue Jays have signed free agent left-handed pitcher Michael Plassmeyer to a minor league deal. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but it's likely a league minimum/pro-rated contract that comes with an invite to Spring Training.
Plassmeyer spent all of 2025 in Triple-A as a member of the Texas Rangersorganization.
The #BlueJays have signed LHP Michael Plassmeyer to a minor league deal.
Plassmeyer spent last season at AAA with the Texas Rangers, posting a 4.43 ERA, 5.35 FIP & 14.4 K-BB % in 28 games (16 starts). He has one MILB option remaining.
His surface numbers aren't outstanding, pitching to a 4.43 ERA while composing a 9-4 record in 28 games, which included 16 starts. At the same time, this is exactly the kind of low-risk investment that the Blue Jays front office loves.
Plassmeyer likely to start 2026 in Triple-A
Plassmeyer does have some major league experience, albeit very little. He got into three games as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. In those three outings, which include one start, he is 0-2 with a 9.82 ERA.
Still, its evident that the Blue Jays see something they like.
While likely not a factor on the major league roster to begin 2026, Plassmeyer should be in competition to provide depth at Triple-A Buffalo, where he can work as both a starter and reliever.
