He might not have the name recognition of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but Jake Casey's family pedigree is just as good.
Fans got their first look at Jake Casey, who was a 15th round pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2025, during Tuesday's Spring Training game against the New York Yankees, when he came in as a late-inning defensive replacement in Centre Field and later hit a home run in his only at-bat in the ninth.

MLB Network Dad was watching game on TV
And while his father might not be a Hall-Of-Famer, he was a three-time All-Star.
Casey's father Sean Casey was a longtime first baseman and a nice 12 year career, most notably with the Cincinnati Reds.
He was a three-time All-Star as well as a member of the Reds Hall of Fame.
Casey the elder would also be considered a rare breed in today's game, a player with a lifetime average above .300.
What made Jake's home run more special was that it was the youngster's first-ever at-bat in a major league environment.
Yes, it was in the final inning of a Spring Training, but it was against the New York Yankees.
Besides, at-bats in Spring Training are still important and valuable for both team and player.
After Blue Jays wondered aloud whether Sean Casey was watching, the former 1st baseman and current MLB Network personality sent a text message letting the broadcast know that he was indeed watching, which added to Jake's special.
While he won't be a big leaguer tomorrow, Casey will be a fun prospect to keep an eye on.
