Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah has continued to exceed expectations, with his best Triple-A outing yet.

The right-hander was tagged for three unearned runs over 5.1 innings while recording five strikeouts and two walks, facing the Pittsburgh Pirates' triple-A affiliate.
Alek Manoah was tagged with 3 unearned runs in the 1st inning, but settled into his best AAA rehab start yet: 5IP 6H 3R 0ER 5K 1BB (78 pitches, 48 strikes) Worked through 'some mechanical stuff' with Pete Walker between starts and made 'good strides' Schneider said.
The lone blemish came on a three-run shot in the bottom of the first to catcher Rafael Flores.
Manoah recorded three strikeouts in the inning, but the leadoff man reached via error and Cam Devanney was plunked by a 2-1 sinker before Flores sent a first-pitch fastball over the left-field wall.
Manoah recovered and ended his night on exactly 85 pitches (50 strikes), which was his target heading into the contest after throwing 75 his last time out.
Manoah strikes out the side, this one with a 92.3 mph fastball.
This marks his third outing with the Bisons since retaking the mound earlier this summer.
The 27-year-old underwent UCL reconstruction surgery in 2024 after a five-game return to the big leagues, where he posted a 3.70 ERA over 24.1 innings.
Though it's dangerous to read too much into any minor league start, Manoah could be close to returning as a big-league contributor given just how good he has been in recent seasons.
Three years ago, he earned Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player Award votes with a 2.24 ERA and 180 strikeout season for the Blue Jays.
