Starting pitcher overview
Disc golfer extraordinaire Dylan Cease gets the ball tonight. In his last outing Cease didn't factor into the decision in his start against the Brewers, giving up two hits and three walks while fanning six across six scoreless innings.
Cease completed six innings for the first time this season, and the hard-throwing right-hander continues to rack up strikeouts.
He has punched out at least six in each of his four starts on his way to 32 strikeouts over 20.2 innings, although he's also walked 12, which is pretty high even by his standards.
Cease has a 1.74 ERA in four starts, but he also carries a 1.26 WHIP that's largely the byproduct of the amount of free passes he's handing out.
Reid Detmers is on the bump for the Halos tonight. In his last outing Detmers earned the win against the Yankees, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with nine strikeouts across seven innings.
After getting hit hard in his previous start against Atlanta, Detmers went a season-high seven innings, and it was his second start of the season with nine strikeouts and zero walks after he accomplished the feat in just 4.2 innings versus Houston on March 28.
Detmers has always had intriguing stuff, but putting it together consistently has been the issue for the 26-year-old.
Now getting a chance in the rotation again this season, Detmers owns a 3.57 ERA and 26:6 K:BB across 22.2 innings.
Four of his strikeouts came on his changeup, which has been his most improved pitch in 2026 to go along with a mid-90s fastball and plus slider.
