The Toronto Blue Jays are not planning on trading Vladimir Guerrero Jr. At least, not yet.

With the February 18th deadline fast approaching, it appears that the face of the Blue Jays franchise will enter 2025 as an impending free agent.
While talks have been ongoing, the lack of a contract has led many insiders to wonder whether theBlue Jays are considering trading Guerrero.
The answer, at least according to Blue Jays General Manager Ross Atkins, is no. Make that hell no.
According to baseball insider Jeff Passan, the Blue Jays have refused to even discuss any potential trade talks.
Oh, and for those who think perhaps Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would become available if he can't come to terms on a contract extension before his Feb. 18 deadline: The Blue Jays continue to insist to other executives that the slugger isn't going anywhere. There is a price for everyone, yes, but Guerrero's would be exceptionally high.

Now this doesn't mean that plans can't change. If the Blue Jaysare out of it by the All-Star break then perhaps Toronto reconsiders its stance.
But this could also indicate that the two sides are close to a deal. Even if nothing happens before the start of Spring Training, Vladdy could still re-sign in the fall. He has stated in the past that he wants to remain a Blue Jay.
Whatever happens, this could be the story line of the season. Vlad knows his worth, and so do the Blue Jays. Both sides need to a deal done.
