What do the Toronto Blue Jays do with Anthony Santander and Daulton Varsho when they return

However these aren't normal circumstances. The Blue Jays have been white hot winning 12 of their last 14 games and haven't missed a beat without either one of them..
Santander's official designation here is left shoulder inflammation, but he's also dealt with some left hip inflammation this season.
He received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his injured left shoulder and is expected to resume throwing in the next few days in Dunedin.
Santander clearly hasn't been right at the plate through this stretch, either, so this will give him an opportunity to fully reset after a difficult start to his Blue Jays tenure.
In a game against the Athletics at Rogers Centre, Daulton Varsho made an aggressive turn around second base to try for the triple but pulled up halfway there, immediately grabbing the back of his left leg.
Varsho is currently rehabbing his Hamstring injury in Triple-A Buffalo and will be back with the Jays soon.
Varsho has launched eight home runs in just 24 games, and although he wasn't hitting for average yet, it felt like we were beginning to see him shift his offensive identity that natural power on top of his defense in center, which is elite.
So the big elephant in the room now is with the Blue Jays being one of the hottest teams in baseball without Santander and Varsho, where do you slot them into the lineup when they return?
In the offseason the Blue Jays focused on finding someone who can hit behind Vlad Jr so that opposing teams cant pitch around him like they did in 2024.
Hence why they picked up Anthony Santander, however with his injuries this year Santander hasn't been exactly the switch hitting slugger known as Tony Taters this season.
Whenever Santander was out of the lineup prior to going on the IL Schneider would pencil in Daulton Varsho in his spot and he flourished surprisingly providing more than enough protection for Vladdy in the short term.
When Anthony Santander hit his 44 home runs in Baltimore last year he was batting in the 6 or 7 spot which may be a good spot for him when he returns to the Blue Jays lineup.
He will probably feel more comfortable without the pressure of hitting behind Vlad Jr.
Combine that with a rejuvenated healthy shoulder he may become Tony Taters again.
As far as Daulton Varsho goes he and Addison Barger can take turns hitting behind Guerrero, either or will do just fine at this point.
