What makes this signing special for Canadian baseball fans is that the youngster is the son of former outfielder and Montreal Expos fan favourite Henry Rodriguez.
While Rodriguez played for five teams during his 11 year career, he is most well-known for his time in Quebec, where he was selected to his only All-Star appearance in 1996, a season in which he hit 36 home runs.
He became a popular figure and somewhat of a cult hero in Montreal, so much so that famed radio broadcaster Roger Brulotte gave him the nickname O Henry.
Out of this came the tradition of fans throwing On Henry chocolate bars onto the field every time the beloved outfielder hit a home run.
Rodriguez the younger has a good chance to develop in centre fielder
Much like his famous father, the younger Rodriguez also roams the outfield grass. However, while Rodriguez the elder made a home in left field, the scouting report for his son indicates that his skill lies in centre.
He will be an exciting one to watch.
