Daulton Varsho made a great catch... except it wasn't ruled that way.

With one on and nobody out in the bottom of the fifth during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals, Bobby Witt Jr. hit a sharp line drive to centre fielder. Varsho dove for the ball, securing it in his glove. However, it was a ruled a trap and Witt was awarded first base.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider challenged the call and television replays clearly showed Varsho making the catch without the baseball touching the outfield grass. However, inexplicably, the call on the field was upheld. The call was so egregious that even Witt thought he was out.
Needless to say, the Blue Jays broadcast team was not having it. Radio Play-by-play man Ben Shulman called it the worst replay call he had all season. His broadcasting partner Chris Leroux expressed genuine shock.
Online, fans were quick to voice their discontent as well.
More absolutely horrific umpiring that goes against the Blue Jays
Maybe the most ridiculous decision after a video review that I've seen in pro sports. How is that not a catch by Blue Jays CF Daulton Varsho?

Had issues with strike zone as well

Shulman, who spent the rest of the half-inning berating the replay crew, also voiced his discontent with umpire Todd Tichenor's strike zone. While both him and Leroux agreed that the zone had been relatively fair - albeit small - Shulman took issue with a call in the top of the sixth, saying
the pitch called a strike even though it wasn't

Dan Shulman, the Blue Jays lead television announcer, was given an explanation, which he read out on air.
"After viewing all relevant angles, the replay official could not definitively determine that the fielder had firm and secure possession of the ball prior to any part of the ball touching the ground"

The botched call led to two runs for the Royals, however the Blue Jays held on for the win.
