Blue Jays doing all they can to sign Vladdy before opening day: report

Given that tomorrow's game against the Baltimore Orioles begins at 3:00PM ET, that gives the Blue Jays about 18 hours to get a deal done.

In an appearance on the MLB Network, Blue Jays insider Shi Davidi said that while there is always a chance, both sides also know where they stand in relation to the negotiations.

Plus, any prospective agreement hinges on Vladdy waiving his initial deadline, which was February 18th, the first day of Spring Training.

There has been a lot around Guerrero all offseason, noise that has only increased since the Blue Jays failed to reach an agreement with him back in February. That being said, after all the reports and negative speculation came out, the Blue Jays seem hard-driven to meet Guerrero's asking price and get a deal done prior to the start of the season.

While General Manager Ross Atkins is understandably tight-lipped about the whole situation, he did emphasize that he has hope that a deal will get done sooner rather than later.

If the two sides are able to come to an agreement before tomorrow afternoon, it would represent a huge turn-around on discussions that looked like they were heading in the wrong direction. It would also a long way to placate a fan base that has seen so much disappointment the last two years and one who has a huge amount of skepticism about the 2025 season.
