Even Canadian baseball media is skeptical about the Blue Jays' chances for the upcoming season. Steve Simmons, a writer for the Toronto Sun, recently lamented that, in spite of everything. there may not be much hope for Canada's only team this year.

Blue Jays fans have long been a fickle bunch, especially since a certain generation of them lived through the lean, post-World Series years of the 90's and early 2000s.
But there is always a fine line line between despair and anguish and hope. Blue Jays nation was witness to it during the early years of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette.
And yet now, more than ever, there seems to be widespread doubt and skepticism that the Blue Jays will do anything of note this season.
Even Simmons remains a skeptic, his piece in the Sun evidence of that.
That's what faces the Toronto Blue Jays as another season is about to begin, the 32nd consecutive year in which they will not play for the World Series.

While technically probably true, seems overly negative right out the gate. Who knows, with the additions of Max Scherzer and Anthony Santander, a full season of Bo, and Vladdy being Vladdy, the Blue Jays could surprise.
And yet, they could surprise any given year. That's been a recurring motto for the Blue Jays: You Just Don't Know. And it is particularly evident this year.
And yet while skepticism is healthy, apathy isn't. I suppose we'll know how the majority of Blue Jays fans feel in a few, short weeks. Anything is possible.
