George Springer needed all his mental fortitude to keep himself from getting ejected during the Toronto Blue Jays' game on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox.
Springer slammed his bat to the ground then screamed while lifting his arms up and down as he headed back to the home dugout.
After rushing down the steps, Springer slammed his helmet several times into the bat shelf in what was a rare display of heightened emotion from the veteran.
With the count at 2-1, Springer appeared to give the crowd what they were praying for a bases-clearing hit down the line in left field.
However, third-base umpire Scott Barry ruled that the ball went foul.
Springer was irate at the call, which replays proved incorrect. To add insult to injury, Springer was called out on the next pitch on a ball that was well outside the plate.
The Blue Jays slugger was ready to break his bat in anger, but somehow managed to gather himself to avoid getting ejected.
