When the Seattle Mariners came to town, the Blue Jays were riding high, having won two out of three from the Atlanta Braves. However, the same result eluded Toronto, as the Mariners won the final two games of the series.

What the made losses even worse was that the Blue Jays were victimized by old friends.
Casey Lawrence, who pitched for the Blue Jays in 2017 and 2022, pitched in the first two games of the series and turned in a scoreless appearance each time.
Trent Thornton, who spent parts of five seasons in Toronto, appeared in Sunday's game, and worked around a walk and hit in a scoreless 8th inning.
The big bully though was Rowdy Tellez. The lovable first baseman - who made his debut with the Blue Jays in 2018 - homered in all three games.
In Friday's game, Tellez hit a solo shot in the second inning of off Blue Jays starter Bowden Francis. It was his second blast of the year and accounted for the Mariners only run of the game, which the Jays won 3-1.
His big moment came on Saturday. In the 12th inning with Jacob Barnes on the mound for the Blue Jays and with the Mariners up 4-3, Tellez stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and launched one over the left field wall for a grand slam. It put the Mariners up by five and the game out of reach.
It ended up being the difference as the Jays got one back in bottom half of the inning.
While he didn't start Sunday, Tellez hit a pinch-hit, two-run home run in the seventh inning.
He now has five homers and 11 RBIs on the season.
