What does Ernie Clement have to do to earn some respect around here?
In spite of helping lead the
Toronto Blue Jays to their first World Series in 32 years, and setting a post season hits record along the way, the beloved Blue Jays infielder is still falling short when it comes to winning major awards.
While he won the Fielding Bible award earlier this offseason, Clement was overlooked for not one, but two Gold Gloves after being nominated at both third base and the utility infielder position.
Bobby Witt Jr. is the first player to win the Heart and Hustle Award in back-to-back seasons since Craig Biggio (2006-07)!
The

shortstop joined us to discuss the honor, working hard every day and getting the recognition from his peers.
With the Heart and Hustle Award, there are both team winners and an overall winner for the entire league. While Clement was the Blue Jays 2025 Heart and Hustle winner, Witt edged him out for the overall title.
In spite of historic season, Blue Jays still overlooked for many awards
Clement's loss is part of a worrying, ongoing trend for the Blue Jays. After taking the team from last place to within two outs of a World Series victory, John Schneider still didn't manager of the year.
And Ernie Clement didn't win a Gold Glove. and now this.
