There was a notable absence in the Blue Jays loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday. Centre fielder Daulton Varsho. The gold glove winner was a late scratch after experiencing some lower back tightness.

Now, manager John Schneider is offering an update. Schneider says that while Varsho could have played through the discomfort, the team decided to be cautious, especially since Varsho only recently returned from injury.
With an off-day on Monday, the Blue Jays are hoping that it will be all systems go on Tuesday.
Known for his defence, Varsho has also contributed with the bat since his return from the injured list. he has a .353. OBP, a .996 OPS, two homers, three RBIs, and one stolen base. He is also a Catch of the Year after an insane no-look grab on Tuesday.
Varsho's injury doesn't appear to be anything serious and Schneider and the Blue Jays are hoping that a little extra rest will be all he needs to get back to full health.
The good news is that the Blue Jays have a more than capable back in CF in Myles Straw, as well as Nathan Lukes and George Springer, who can also fill in. Ditto for Alan Roden in a pinch.
It can always be tougher to gauge and manage injuries earlier in the season, but the Blue Jays are taking the right approach with Varsho.
The Blue Jays - and Varsho - will now take a day to re-group before they head out west. Hopefully Varsho is back in there by then.
Right now, all they can do is wait.
