Pitcher
Kai Peterson, who was a 20th round pick in the 2023 draft and hails from Glendale, California, will get a chance to mingle with some of MLB's best and brightest prospects.
Given that he was a relatively low draft pick, it is a wonder that Peterson is participating at all and is indicative of his great progress since being drafted two years ago.
Congratulations to LHP Kai Peterson on being named to the @MLBazFallLeague Fall Stars Game
While his 2024 didn't blow anybody away - 6-4 with a 4.53 ERA in 40 games split between the Florida State League and Vancouver - his 2025 was much more solid. In 29 games with the High-A Canadians, Peterson went 3-1 with a 2.74 ERA and one save.
Towards the end of the season he was promoted to Double-A New Hampshire and had a 4.70 ERA in nine appearances.
While he is still just 23 and likely begins 2026 with the Fisher Cats, his selection to the Fall Futures game will definitely increase his visibility, both within the Toronto organization and around the league.
Peterson harbours interesting profile, could be a future back-end reliever
Peterson has an interesting profile for a relief pitcher. His stuff isn't particularly overpowering, and has a five-pitch mix that works well with keeping hitters off-balance. His most frequent pitch is his sinker, which averages around 93mph.
In a way, Peterson is reminiscent of
Chris Bassitt, who used his seven-pitch arsenal to great affect this postseason while pitching out of the bullpen for the Blue Jays.
For those hoping to catch a glimpse of the action, the Fall Stars game will be aired on MLBTV on Sunday at 8pm ET.
