According to industry sources the Boston Red Sox wanted a pretty big haul from the Toronto Blue Jays for infielder and designated hitter Rafael Devers.

Devers is only 28, has averaged 33 homers, over 100 rbi a season and a respectable .279 batting average. Is he a liability at 3rd, sure. Is the ideal teammate? No, But he is still sought after by many teams including the Jays.

This trade never had a chance of happening. TOR wanted BOS to eat some of the money remaining on Devers deal, BOS were never trading Devers in-division. But if we're living in a fantasy world, dependent on the rest of the package, I definitely would've traded Berrios for Devers.
In the end the San Francisco Giants offered to take on all of Devers salary from the Red Sox (Blue Jays only offered to take on some) and offered them a haul to go along with it.
