Sidearm throwing right-hander Tyler Rogers and the American League champion Toronto Blue Jays finalized a three-year, free-agent contract worth $37 million US on Monday.

Rogers gets a $5 million signing bonus, payable within 30 days of the deal's approval by Major League Baseball, and salaries of $7 million next year and $12 million in each of the following two seasons.
His deal includes a $12 million vesting option for 2029 that would become guaranteed if he has 60 regular-season games pitched in 2028 or 110 in 2027-28 combined, and he passes physical at end of 2028 season.
If the vesting option is not triggered, the contract includes a $9 million team option for 2029 with a $1 million buyout.

Blue Jays see value in Rogers unorthodox delivery and arm angle

Based on the Blue Jays' investment in Rogers, it seems like they view his unorthodox delivery as a value-add rather than a cause for concern.
While many relievers are said to give opponents 'a different look,' Rogers is the outlier of all outliers when it comes to arm angle.
I love this visual of the average arm angle at the time of release of RHPs this season. Tyler Rogers at -60 degrees.
Every heavy investment in a reliever is risky, and going all-in on Rogers was not an obvious masterstroke by the Blue Jays.
He does not blow hitters away like most high-leverage arms in his new tax bracket, and his age isn't insignificant.
Rogers, 34, is the latest pitching addition by the Blue Jays, who agreed to a seven-year, $210 million contract with Dylan Cease and a three-year pact worth $30 million with Cody Ponce.
The Blue Jays also acquired reliever Chase Lee in a trade with Detroit.
