2026 is becoming the year of the statue.

On the same it was announced that Toronto Blue Jays legend Joe Carter will have a statue dedicated to his World Series home run, another team also announced plans to honour a franchise icon.
In a press conference last week at Rockies, Walker Monfort, the new President of Baseball Operations for the Colorado Rockies that on Sunday, August 23, the team will unveil a statue dedicated to Larry Walker the first player to represent the team in the Hall of Fame.
🚨Breaking News from Rockies Fan Fest:

Walker Monfort has just announced that both Larry Walker and Todd Helton will receive statues outside of Coors Field this fall!
Walker was on hand and seated beside Monfort when the announcement was made.
That wasn't the only news however. Monfort went on to say that roughly three weeks later, on September 19th, another statue will unveiled outside of Coors Field; this one of Todd Helton.
It came down to who deserves a statue here at Coors Field and I think it's pretty hard to argue that Larry Walker and Todd Helton don't, based on their accomplishments and what they to the Colorado Rockies, our brand, and our fanbase. - Walker Monfort

While Walker, who is from Maple Ridge, BC, also played for the Montreal Expos and St. Louis Cardinals during his career, he is most closely identified with the Rockies and was part of the famed Blake Street Bombers alongside DDante Bichette, Vinny Castilla, Andres Galarraga, and later, Ellis Burks.

Walker has slowly transitioned into coaching

Since his retirement, Walker has coached intermittently. In 2008, he was a special hitting instructor for the Cardinals during Spring Training, and has also served as first base coach for the Canadian National Team.
While he has not joined the Rockies in any official capacity, he is always present at their big events.
Congratulations Larry.
