Those who watch the Toronto Blue Jays know the power of Ernie Clement; now the rest of the baseball world knows it as well.

The lovable and beloved utility player was announced among the winners of the Fielding Bible Awards. He won in the multi-position player category.
While not as prestigious as the Gold Glove Award - of which Clement has also been nominated for - they are seen as an alternative to the traditional metrics for success and are calculated using statistical analysis, the eye test, and any other factors that [panelists] wish to utilize.
MLB's LEADER with 22 Defensive Runs Saved 👏

Ernie Clement wins his first Fielding Bible Award!
Additionally, whereas the Gold Glove is awarded to the best defensive player at each position in each league, the Fielding Bible has just one winner. Thus Clement was considered the best utility player in both the American and National Leagues.
While the Fielding Bible Awards were introduced in 2006, the multi-position player award only came into existence in 2014; the awards generally use a more sabermetric approach when voting rather than a traditional one such as fielding percentage.

Clement nominated for two Gold Glove Awards

It could be the first of many accolades for Clement, who is a double-nominee for the Gold Glove at both third base and utility player.
He deserves the award too; his 2.9 dWAR led the American League, while his 22 Defensive Runs Saved were tops in all of Major League Baseball.
Congratulations Ernie.
