Ex- Toronto Blue Jays reliever Erik Swanson isn't impressed with Sid Seixeiro's take on celebrating the ALCS banner when its raised at Rogers Centre on Opening Day.
In case you didn't already know, after over a year long absence from the sports media Sid Seixero has a new podcast on X (formally known as twitter).
Seixeiro previously hosted the popular Tim and Sid show on Sportsnet with Tim Micallef starting in 2011 before leaving to join the CityTV morning show in early 2021.
Seixeiro cohosted the program with Meredith Shaw before they both were let go by Rogers in February 2025.
With the Sid Seixeiro Show on social media, Seixeiro has a much more interactive audience than he is used to on regular television.
In other words, he can't rant like he used to on Tim & Sid without any kind of instant reaction, retort or backlash for his comments or opinions.
And there has been quite a few. The latest rant Seixero is receiving backlash for is his comments on celebrating the ALCS banner when its raised at Rogers Centre on Opening Day.
"What I'm saying is just put it up [ALCS banner], and let it sit, and it's part of your history. To acknowledge it like that was the goal is incorrect to me. It doesn't make a lot of sense. Acknowledging second place is that what it is?" - Sid Seixeiro
Former Blue Jays reliever Erik Swanson calls Seixeiro a 'Clown'
These comments rubbed a lot of Blue Jays fans the wrong way, including former Blue Jays reliever Erik Swanson who couldn't believe what he was hearing, and let the world know by calling out Seixeiro on social media.
Someone take the mic away from this clown.
Superfan and Podcaster Liz McGuire shared her thoughts on Seixeiro's take.
Winning the AL is a huge deal. We're so proud of our @bluejays. This is a trash take👏🗑️
Swanson who recently retired from baseball after the Blue Jays released him last season, has got into it with Seixeiro online in the past, even before his new podcast.
In that particular instance Seixeiro thought that John Schneider left Tyler Heineman out on the mound too long in a game they were getting blown out in by the Kansas City Royals last season, suggesting that he was being hung out to dry and disrespected.
With Swanson now retired, he may have a little more time now to call out Sid when he starts to go off the rails in his comments about the Blue Jays, which by the looks of it, is fine with fans wanting to celebrate their first pennant win in 32 years on Opening Day.
