Blue Jays fans are certainly an impatient and fickle bunch. Last year, it was Chris Bassitt. Now, fans are turning their attention towards Kevin Gausman and demanding that the former ace be traded after another inconsistent start.

Following his start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, Gausman is now 3-4 with a 4.59 ERA and 1.06 WHIP on the season. While those numbers aren't terrible by any means, they're a far cry from what Gausman is capable of. He himself acknowledges that he has to be better.
Still, that didn't stop social media from opining that the time to dump him is now.
Gausman can go anytime. He acts like he doesn't even care. Sometimes he throws 92, sometimes 97. He's a strange dude. His time as a Jay is up. So inconsistent.

Sometimes throwing 92 and sometimes throwing 97 doesn't actually mean anything. Especially when his best pitch is his splitter.
Yet another fan chimed in.
Forget the trade deadline, [general manager Ross] Atkins needs to trade Gausman and [Max] Scherzer for a real starting pitcher.

Yet another thinks he is over-the-hill.
Gausman is done, and it was obvious last year another bum start, another series given away. It will happen many times in 2025.

One fan went so far to call it an automatic loss whenever Gausman pitches. The Blue Jays have a 4-5 record during Gausman's starts this season.
Gausman isn't the only target of this feral fanbase. Manager John Schneider also has his fair share of critics.
John Schneider is such an atrocious manager. I cannot see the Blue Jays ever going above .500 until he is fired along with Atkins.

Schneider took over managing the Blue Jays in 2022. In his first two seasons they had a winning record. His all-time winning percentage as Blue Jays manager is .522. so clearly the Blue Jays can and have gone above .500 with Schneider at the helm.
Gausman is still under contract fro one more year and barring something drastic is likely staying put. He will recover.
