The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Baltimore Orioles 8-2 in a Friday evening matchup at Rogers Centre. The series is now even at 1-1.

For the first few innings, it looked like the Jays offensive woes would continue to haunt them as they were 2-0 after four innings.
Then things got weird in the bottom of the fourth.
The Blue Jays loaded the bases on three consecutive singles. Alan Roden then hit a sacrifice fly for his first career RBI. A wild pitch, two singles and another sacrifice fly, this time from Vladimir Guerrero Jr.. followed, to give the Blue Jays a 5-2 lead. Bo Bichette added an RBI single in the 6th and Ernie Clement hit a pinch-hit two run double in the eighth to put the Blue Jays up 8-2.
Kevin Gausman grinded through six innings for the win. The Orioles were patient enough with Gausman, causing his pitch count to rise to 70 after four innings. He ultimately threw 97 pitches, while striking out four and walking one.
There was a scary moment in the eighth as reliever Brendon Little walked off the mound with an apparent injury. The Blue Jays already have Erik Swanson and Ryan Burr on the IL, and can ill-afford to lose Little, an key left-hander in the bullpen, for an extended period of time.
Nick Sandlin came in and pitched 1.1 scoreless innings to finish out the game.
In addition to first big league RBI, Roden also showed off his defensive skills, making a diving catch in left field.
The Blue Jays continue their series against the Orioles on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:07 PM EST.
