The Toronto Blue Jays fell to the New York Mets 5-0 in a Friday afternoon game at Citi Field, which was also the home opener for the Mets.. The loss snaps a four game winning streak for the Blue Jays, who drop to 5-3 on the season.

Kevin Gausman got the ball for the Jays, while Tyler Megilltook the ball for the Mets.
Although Gausman gave up a two-run home run to Pete Alonso in a 31 pitch first inning, he settled down after that, setting down 14 Mets in a row until allowing a walk to Francisco Lindor with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Mason Fluharty came on in relief and allowed a double to Soto, intentionally walked Alonso, then allowed another double to Brandon Nimmo and left without retiring a batter. He was charged with two runs after Jacob Barnes allowed a sacrifice fly to Starling Marte.
The Mets were patient and didn't strike out until Barnes got Luisangel Acuna swinging for the second out in the seventh.
While both the Blue Jays and Mets had four hits apiece, New York clearly took advantage of their opportunities, as three of their four hits were doubles.
On the bright side, George Springer continued his hot start going 2-4 with a triple. Vladimir Guerrero also had two hits, both singles.
Jacob Barnes struck out one in 1.2 scoreless innings of work, though he did allow an inherited run to score. Yariel Rodriguez pitched a scoreless eighth.
The Blue Jays and Mets continue their series tomorrow in matchup that sees Chris Bassitt take on Griffin Canning. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10pm ET.
