The Toronto Blue Jays had Canadian Football League Hall of Fame Quarterback and NFL legend Doug Flutie at the ballpark on Tuesday.
Flutie who spent eight years in the CFL and 12 in the NFL and is most remembered for his time with the Buffalo Bills, was in town as part of the Bills new partnership with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, further cementing the relationship between Toronto and Buffalo.
The partnership is a multi-faceted endeavor that looks to help grow the game of football with Canadian Youth, and will involve many other Toronto sports team including the Argonauts, Raptors, and FC.
It also includes fellow Toronto sporting legends Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady. The Blue Jays of course have a long association with the city of Buffalo, as the Bisons have been their Triple-A affiliate since 2013.
They also have their own Bills mafia in the clubhouse, led by local boy and superfan Ernie Clement.
The centre of the MLSE-Bills partnership is The Future of Football program, which brings together the CFL's Toronto Argonauts and the NFL's Buffalo Bills, sharing a common goal of growing the game of football for all youth.
Beyond today's appearance at Rogers Centre, Flutie has a surprising connection to, and longtime passion for the game of baseball.
In 2010, after he retired from being a quarterback, he teamed up with some college ballplayers from Massachusetts and led the Reading Bulldogs into the playoffs in their inaugural season.
He went 9-37 with five runs scored and six RBI. He even pitched to one batter, though he mostly played second base.
The man can do it all!
Flutie was elected into the Canadian Football of Fame in 2008.
