A handful of injured Blue Jays are starting on the road to recovery.
The outfielder/designated hitter was kept out of the lineup for the second straight day after crashing into the outfield wall on Thursday. Manager John Schneider has said that Santander's shoulder is still a "little cranky" but he doesn't anticipate Santander needing time on the IL. He is currently listed as day-to-day.
Over on the pitching side, Ben Nicholson-Smith offered several updates.
The relief pitcher was recently transferred to the 60-Day IL which will keep him out of action until at least late May. However, he appears to be close as his rehab is set to to continue at Triple-A Buffalo next week.
Sandlin has been playing catch from 75-90 feet. He is likely still a few weeks away from a return to game action.
The future Hall Of Famer threw another live batting practice session as he continues to deal with a problematic right thumb. Like Burr and Swanson, Scherzer is also the 60 Day IL, so the Blue Jays have time on their side. Scherzer is scheduled at least another two BPs before he begins rehab.
Much like Burr, Swanson will be continuing his rehab in Buffalo over the next couple of weeks. He could potentially return at the end of the month.
Down on the farm, there is still no word on the severity of Jake Bloss' elbow injury. The top pitching prospect was pulled from last start for Buffalo and promptly place on the IL. A further update is scheduled to happen in the coming days.
