It would appear that Addison Barger only knows how to do things in threes.. A week after he tied a record for three outfield assists in the same game, Barger then decided to hit three doubles in the same game.
Barger now has six doubles on the season.
In Friday's game against the
Seattle Mariners Addison Barger went 3-4 with three doubles and two RBIs. While getting three hits in a game is not necessarily a rarity, having three doubles in one game is.
Barger has come a long way in his last seven games, batting .278 with two walks and three RBIs.
First called up to play right field, with the injury to Andres Gimenez, Barger is now seeing more time at third base and will have regular playing time compared to when he was just an outfielder.
Yet, with his success, it feels like he could be here to stay.
He swings the bat fast. He hits the ball hard. He can throw the ball hard. There are a lot of things that should add up to success at this level. It's a matter of getting consistent reps and trusting his ability, really.»
Much of Barger's recent stems from a renewed sense of confidence.
knowing I'm not going to get beat»
While Barger will still to find regular playing time and success, he is well on his way to becoming an everyday player with the
Blue Jays.
Barger is strong and has the power. He just needs to harness it.
With Andres Gimenez on the IL, he will have every opportunity.
