Six weeks into the season and it's safe to say that the Blue Jays have underperformed. With all the money spent of free agents and locking up Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the same problems from last year are re-surfacing this season. But just how bad are they?
According to a recent article, many executives are labelling the Blue Jays the biggest flop in history. In keeping with recent times, everyone looks at Toronto in extremes.
Much of it has to do with expectations. After a lost season in 2024, the pressure to perform in 2025 has never been higher. With both
Bo Bichette and
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. yet to be locked up prior to the beginning of the season, there were a lot more questions than answers.
But performance also pays a role. According to one executive, it is painful to see a team such as the Blue Jays underperform in the way that they have.
«It's hard to watch a team with so much talent underperform"
If one wants to analyze the team's underlying issues, one could point to John Schneider's bullpen management or the seeming mental lapses of players like Guerrero, Bichette and
Anthony SantanderYet, baseball is a fickle game. There is a very line between everything going right and everything going wrong.
While it's unfair to label the Blue Jays a flop this early in the season, if the struggles continue, an entire tear down is possible.
There is still a long way to go.
