It wasn't pretty at times on Sunday, but in the end, the Blue Jays got the job done.
While they have not yet clinched the American League East, they still hold a two game lead over the New York Yankees - who came back in extra innings against the Baltimore Orioles - and are the first American League team to punch their ticket to the postseason.
This is just the first step. There's more to accomplish. But for now... a toast
While the worst they can do is hold down a wildcard spot, Toronto is a good spot to maintain their position atop the league, given that they hold the tiebreaker over both the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.
As it stands right now, the Blue Jays, by virtue of having the best record in the league, would receive a first round bye, playing the winner of the Yankees-Red Sox in the ALDS.
Right now the Seattle Mariners, having gone 9-1 in their last 10 games, are the second seed and thus are currently in line to receive the 2nd bye.
The Toronto Blue Jays are heading to the 2025 Postseason. They are the first American League squad to punch their ticket!

Their first ALDS since 2016

The Blue Jays last three playoff appearances have not well, as they have been swept the three time they played in the wild card series. Their last playoff win came in 2016, when they beat the Texas Rangers in a rematch of 2015, before ultimately falling to Cleveland in the ALCS.
With the win, the Blue Jays also became the first AL team to reach the 90 win plateau.
