Kevin Gausman Last 3 Starts:

First Jays starter in a 3-start span with....
24+ IP since: Mark Buehrle (2015)

Kevin Gausman hurled the second complete game for the Blue Jays this year while only using 100 pitches
Named after the
Cy Young Award-winning Hall of Fame pitcher, a Maddux is achieved by hurling a complete game on less than 100 pitches, something the Greg Maddux was famous for doing. Gausman's centennial pitch was his last of the game.
Gausman's gem is only the second complete game for the Blue Jays this year - the other belongs to
Chris Bassitt - , and first shut out. The Blue Jays ace also had the only shutout last year.
The last pitcher not named Gausman to twirl a complete game shutout was Bassitt, who did so in 2023.
Former ace Hyun-Jin Ryu had a complete game shutout in 2021. Prior to that, the most recent, nine-inning shutout was all the way back in 2015 when Mark Buehrle accomplished the feat.
The last time the Blue Jays had more than one complete game shutout in a single season was 2014, when both Drew Hutchison and Marcus Stroman accomplished the feat.
Clearly, shutouts are a rare art form these days.
With the performace, Gausman cemented his status as one the ptichers who will be in the roration when the post-season starts.
