While he was a decent hitter who provided roughly league average offensive value, defense was Kiermaier's calling card as he accumulated 26.7 fWAR and 36.5 bWAR throughout his career.
However, it appears his tenure as an instructor with the Blue Jays has come to an end.
Kiermaier wasted no time seeking his next job with any team willing to take him.
Through a post on X, he made it clear that he is available to all 30 MLB teams as what he called a "Get it Right Coach" specializing in outfield defense.
His goal is clear: To revolutionize baseball defense.
In his message Kiermaier made a direct appeal to the League
To all 30 MLB teams out there. I'm being creative here but just need to get the word out. I wanna revolutionize outfield defense on many levels. No one loves loves this stuff like I do! I wanna change players lives/careers by maximizing defensive potential! My obsession! Lets go!
Kiermaier had a lifetime .246 average. His best offensive seasons came at the beginning of his career when he hit .263 in both 2014 and 2015.
One of the best defenders of his era, he won four Gold Glove Awards, including one with the Blue Jays in the 2023 campaign.
It will be interesting to see how this approach works for him landing a new coaching gig with another team.
We here at Blue Jays Central wish him nothing but the best of luck and hope it works out for him.
