The bigger question is whether those initial games will come as part of a rehab assignment, or whether the Blue Jays will have Springer skip a rehab stint and immediately stick him back onto the active roster.
MLB.com's Keegan Matheson followed up with Blue Jays manager John Schneider on the topic and the answer appears to be no rehab required.
George Springer will run the bases and hit again tomorrow. He's close to returning and won't need a rehab assignment, John Schneider says.
Springer has been shelved for the last two-plus weeks with a fractured left big toe.
Springer is one of many Blue Jays hitters to get off to a slow start this season, as he’s currently hitting .185 with two home runs and a .661 on-base plus slugging in the 14 games he’s played.
However, he is coming off a brilliant campaign in which he hit .309 and led the team with 32 home runs in 2025.
The Blue Jays (12-15) begin a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Monday night, sending Dylan Cease to the hill against Ranger Suarez.
