Latest Royals roster projection includes Cavan Biggio

For a playoff team, the Kansas City Royals have a lot of competition for their secondary roster spots. When Cavan Biggio signed a minor league this past offseason, he knew that. He knew that nothing was guaranteed.
And yet, Biggio has been strong this spring. So much so that the Royals latest roster projection - courtesy of Royals Data Dugout - have the former Blue Jays utility man and six year veteran as making the final cut.
His Spring Training slash line of .217/.417/.425 is typical Biggio. Low average, high on-base percentage, with a great eye at the plate. So far this spring, he has walked eight times. It seems like he might have found himself again.
The fact that he can play virtually everywhere doesn't hurt either.
"The smoke has become too strong to ignore with Biggio - it just feels like KC wants his versatility, plate skills and left-handed bat on the bench. He's done everything asked of him this spring, including posting a .217/.417/.435 slash line while drawing eight(!) walks - bonus points for three of his five hits going for extra bases." - Royals Data Dugout
If Biggio does end up making the team, he will likely be called upon to play 2nd and 3rd base, with some corner outfield mixed in. While he has always been an above average defender, the Royals would also love to utilize his penchant for getting on-base, which could be a huge asset for when they turn their line-up over.
There are still a handful of Spring Training games left, and anything can in the final days. A lot does. But Cavan Biggio looks to finally be on the right path once again.
