The Miami Marlins are bringing back a familiar face.

Much like the Toronto Blue Jays did with first baseman Eloy Jimenez, the Fish have brought back pitcher Jesus Tinoco on another minor league deal. This is according the Tinoco's player profile page on MLB.com.
Marlins Re-Sign Jesus Tinoco To Minor League Contract
Tinoco has spent the last 1.5 seasons in the sunshine state after the Marlins claimed him off waivers in July of 2024. It was his second stint with the team after pitching for them in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
While 2024 went well for the right-hander, 2025 was something of a disaster for the 30 year old. While he picked up four saves in 20 games, he went 2-1 with a 5.12 ERA, before flexor tendon surgery in August prematurely ended his season.
Tinoco was originally signed by the Blue Jays as an international free agent out of Venezuela as a 16 year old back in 2011. Four years later he was involved in very consequential trade.
Although he started 2015 with High-A Lansing, the Blue Jays included him in a massive deadline deal that saw All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki come north from the Colorado Rockies. Also involved in that deal? Current Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman.
He ultimately made his major league debut for the Rockies in 2019.
After bouncing between the Rockies and the Marlins, Tinoco caught on with the Texas Rangers in 2022. After playing a season in Japan, he was back in Arlington, before being Designated for Assignment midway through the 2024 season.
He was then picked up by the Chicago Cubs
.

Tinoco likely to compete for a bullpen job

While Tinoco may be on the outside looking when it comes to winning a job in the Marlins bullpen, if he can find what he had in 2024, he may be able to wiggle his way into a role.
He has a decent strikeout rate, and if he is able to lower his number of walks he will have a better shot at making the team.
