The 2025 regular has yet to begin and already there is speculation about Vladimir Guerrero Jr..s potential future contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Even after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on an extension prior to the start of Spring Training, both remain optimistic that a deal can be reached in the offseason. Vladdy has even said that he wants to be a Blue Jay for life.
Now, a new number has been postulated as a reasonable balance between the two: $450MM.
While it was unknown what the Blue Jays final offer to the 4X All-Star was, that figure does appear to be lower than Vlad Jr.'s original asking price, which was said be around $600M.
However, $450MM is much more reasonable for a first-baseman, and also falls in with Spoctrac's valuation of Guerrero as a $38MM player. A $12 deal at $450MM would give Vladdy an AAV of $37.5MM.
The Athletic's Tim Britton believes that it will actually take a 15 year deal to keep Vladdy in Toronto, though it's hard to believe that the Blue Jays will lock him up until he's 40. A 10-12 year deal seems more likely and even that is unprecedented territory for the Blue Jays.
At the same time Britton opines, the Blue Jays may have to overpay to retain Guerrero's services, meaning that the actual fee could be as much as $550, which was closer to Guerreros asking price.
It is also possible that Guerrero has no intention of leaving Toronto and is just using his impending free agency as leverage.
Whatever happens, it's going to a long season.
