The Toronto Blue Jays are clearly going all in.
Roughly two months removed from the heartbreaking World Series loss, they have already shored up their rotation by adding Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce, and their bullpen by adding Tyler Rogers.
Each Team's Free Agent Activity So Far
Those signings have helped the Blue Jays be the league leaders in spending this offseason.
And it's not particularly close.
The Blue Jays have spent $277MM on the trio of pitchers.
That's nearly $80MM than the Baltimore Orioles, who come in at second place with $195MM, largely thanks to their deal with Pete Alonso.
The Philadelphia Phillies are the top National League team and third overall, with their spending total so far at $182MM.
There was a time when it was difficult for the Blue Jays to sign big free-agent names, with the team and ownership often paying a premium or adding an extra year to get grade A talent.
That started to change a few years ago with the signings of George Springer and Hyun-Jin Ryu, but even those pale in comparison to what the Blue Jays 2025 offseason has been.
But Toronto has another factor going for them: a superior clubhouse culture.
It is so well-known through the league that it was seemingly all anybody talked about during their playoff run.
Both Rogers and starter Shane Bieber have alluded to it being one of the reasons they chose Toronto.
Spending amount could likely increase
While the Blue Jays have already over a quarter of a million dollars, that amount could easily double if they sign either Bo Bichette and/or Kyle Tucker.
With Canada's team finally succeeding, Toronto is now one of the biggest landing spots. With how good this team is, it is likely to stay that way.
