The Philadelphia Phillies have re-signed former Toronto Blue Jays left-handed reliever Tim Mayza.

According to a report from report from Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Phillies have re-signed veteran lefty Tim Mayza to a minor league contract.
He'll be in big league camp as a non-roster invitee next month. Mayza is represented by Covenant Sports Group.
Congratulations to CSG client Tim Mayza on signing with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Phillies look at Mayza as a good bounce-back candidate

A veteran of eight major-league seasons, Mayza wrapped up the 2025 campaign in Philadelphia after being acquired from the Pirates at the trade deadline.
Injuries limited him for much of the year, as he spent extended time on the injured list, but he still made 15 appearances between the two clubs, posting a 3.78 ERA over 16 1/3 innings.
Since the start of the 2021 season, the left-hander has produced a 3.49 ERA across 214 1/3 big-league frames, pairing a 22.2% strikeout rate with a tidy 6.7% walk rate and an impressive 55% ground-ball rate.
Despite that body of work, Mayza - who turned 34 last week - enters the picture as something of a bounce-back candidate.
A lat injury cost him most of the 2025 season, and he struggled the year prior, surrendering a 6.33 ERA over 42 2/3 innings split between Toronto and New York in 2024.
His most recent fully healthy and effective season came in 2023 with the Blue Jays, when he delivered 53 1/3 innings of dominant relief.
That year, he recorded a sterling 1.52 ERA, a 24.7% strikeout rate, a 7% walk rate, and an elite 58.2% ground-ball rate.
In Philadelphia, Mayza joins a bullpen that already features quality left-handed options in José Alvarado and Tanner Banks, giving the club solid depth on that side in what projects as a strong relief unit overall.
