Thanks in no small part to their first World Series run in 32 years, which
dominated Canadian television markets, the Blue Jays - both the team and several of its players, found themselves among Google's most searched items in Canada for 2025.
Overall, the team took top spot in the news and events category, finishing ahead of the Canadian election results (#2) and Iran (#3).
Our new Prime Minister, Mark Carney topped the list of trending people, while the Blue Jays took 7 of the top 10 trending spots for Athletes.
The highest-ranking non-baseball athlete was Canadian tennis star Victoria Mboko, who came in at number five.
Ice hockey star Brad Marchand (#7), and Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (#10) rounded out the sporting figures.
That's not all though. The Blue Jays were also involved in many googled questions.
Blue Jays and baseball pop-up in what, why, and how questions.
For example, in questions beginning with "What", the question "What time is the Blue Jays game today?" ranked second, right between questions about 6-7 and elbows up.
"Why do baseball players spit?" came second in the "why category", while "how many innings in baseball?" was the top-ranked "how" question.
In that latter category questions about
Alejandro Kirk and how many balls are used in a game, rounded out the top ten.
Clearly baseball and the Blue Jays were on everyone's mind in 2025.
