The Blue Jays prospects are certainly racking up the awards. On Monday, three more minor leagues were named as players of the week in their respective leagues: OF/1B David Beckles - who is in Rookie Ball; Gilberto Batista, who plays for Single-A Dunedin, and Adrian Pinto who is with Vancouver.
Beckles, who started his career in the Yankees organization, was signed by the Blue Jays last offseason. 2025 is his first year playing stateside and he is making it count. In six games this past week, Beckles had one homerun, six RBIS, and a four runs scored, while batting .400. and having an OPS of 1.220.
One level up in Low-A Dunedin, Gilberto Batista took home a pitcher of the week award for his strong performance. Batista was one of three prospects acquired from the Boston Red Sox at the deadline last year in exchange for longtime Blue Jays Danny Jansen.
In his most recent start, Batista went five shoutout innings allowing four hits and just one walk. He also lowered his ERA 1.74. A promotion to Vancouver should be on the cards.
Speaking of Vancouver, infielder Adrian Pinto put up torrid numbers on the way yo another layer of the week award. Pinto, who signed as an IFA with the Colorado Rockies back in 2019 and then was dealt to the Blue Jays as part of the Randal Grichuk trade, has had a great run recently.
In a three game series against Spokane, the 2nd baseman went 7-15 with three home runs to increase wRC+ to 162. Those are very good numbers.
