Toronto Blue Jays already predicted to acquire this All-Star pitcher

With the Toronto Blue Jays likely in need of pitching help this offseason, one Phillies pitcher offers plenty of upside.
While the 2025 playoffs have only just begun, that hasn't stopped various media and analyst from thinking ahead to the 2026 season. Given that the Blue Jays will likely pursue pitching, many are speculating who they might target.
Recently, Sonny Gray was mentioned as an option.. Now, All-Star pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies Ranger Suarez is the most recent name to be linked to Toronto.
Ranger Suarez leaves tonight's game against the Twins after being hit by a comebacker.
With Chris Bassitt, Shane Bieber, and Max Scherzer all pending free agents, the Blue Jays will have several openings in their starting rotation. (Bieber is expected to re-sign)
Suarez, who went 12-8 this season and was an All-Star for Philly in 2024, would complement Kevin Gausman nicely, and could slot in as the Jays' number three starter.
Suarez likely on his way out due to financial considerations
While neither team has commented, Suarez will be a free agent at the end of the season. Bleacher Report's Joe Tansey says it doesn't appear that Suarez will return to the city of brotherly love.
Ranger Suarez feels like he's on the way out in Philadelphia. The Phillies have to commit to paying Kyle Schwarber and they already have a ton of money locked into the top end of their rotation with Zack Wheeler and Aaron NolaHe seems set for a huge pay day somewhere outside the NL East with a team that needs an ace-caliber pitcher and/or someone who can deliver in the postseason.
Suarez is also a lefty, which the Blue Jays could use in their rotation.
