Now that Toronto has evened up the series, guaranteeing that there will be at least a game 6 back home in the Rogers Centre, it makes sense that the Blue Jays would turn to Yesavage, who also started Game 2.
Trey Yesavage will start Game 6 back in Toronto, John Schneider says
This likely means that
Chris Bassitt will pitch out of the bullpen for the remainder of the ALCS as
Shane Bieber would conceivably be the starter if there was a seventh and final game.
But knowing Schneider and the Blue Jays, they could play it any number of ways.
The Blue Jays and Yesavage are hoping that the 22-year old will find his form again and pitch like he did against the the
New York Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS when he struck out 11 batters in 5.1 innings.
In Game 2 against Seattle, he gave up a three run home run in the first inning, putting Toronto in an early hole before an out was recorded.
Yesavage could be pitching for the pennant
Depending on the outcome of tonight's game 5 at T-Mobile Park, it's possible that Yesavage could be pitching for the pennant. While that's ordinarily a lot of pressure for a rookie, Ice Trey doesn't seem phased by it.
Still, it will be the biggest game of his short career.
