The Toronto Blue Jays will be without one of their hottest hitters as they look to snap a two-game skid. Right fielder Addison Barger was scratched from the team's lineup Saturday as he deals with right hip discomfort, the Blue Jays announced before their game against the Chicago White Sox.
Sportsnet's Shi Davidi was the first one on it.
Addison Barger scratched from Blue Jays lineup with right hip soreness, said John Schneider. He's getting treatment, unclear if he's available off bench.
It's not clear when or how Barger suffered the injury, as he played through the entirety of Friday's series opener against the White Sox. He went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in the 7-1 loss.
MLB.com's Keegan Matheson reiterated the same unfortunate news.
News: Addison Barger is out of the lineup with right hip discomfort.
Barger has been a huge addition to Toronto's lineup since getting called up from triple-A Buffalo earlier this season.
Since May 1, the 25-year-old is hitting .286 with a .889 OPS and eight home runs. His eight homers this year have already eclipsed the mark he set in his rookie season in 2024.
Replacing Barger in the lineup and in right field will be
Nathan Lukes, who lined up in left field in Friday's loss.
The 30-year-old outfielder is batting .266 with a .744 OPS and four home runs this season.
