Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins reveals status of starting pitcher Jose Berrios

The move came days after the longtime starter was moved to the bullpen as the Blue Jays worked to align their pitching plans for the playoffs.
Berrios, 31, was a key member of the Blue Jays' success throughout the season had a 4.17 ERA this season over 30 starts and one relief appearance.

In his year end press conference Blue Jays GM today Ross Atkins offered some good news on Berrios status going forward.
Ross Atkins says Jose Berrios «should have a completely normal off-season and be ready for spring training.» Berrios dealt with elbow inflammation at end of the season.
MLB.com's Keegan Matheson reiterated the same update on Berrios.

Meanwhile, Blue Jays team president Mark Shapiro also expressed interest in returning on a new contract, and Davidi reported that the club also had interest in extending the relationship as well.
Mark Shapiro says discussions on his contract status were put on hold during post-season, but he repeated past comments that "there's a desire for me to remain here and desire from (ownership) to keep me here" and added "I think we'll likely work something out soon."
Some pundits have suggested the Blue Jays may trade Jose Berrios this offseason.
