Gausman posts short but concise message from the heart for Blue Jays fans
All I ever wanted to do was make the city and country proud of the team that represents them. To the fans- thank you I will never forget it.
The response from fans across Canada was overwhelming
One fan responded: "United a country my dude! Jumped on a plane to come see game 2 of WS.. you should be proud of what you did."
Another fan told him he should enjoy his time off: "Mission accomplished, you were great! And it's hard to find anyone in this city who isn't proud of you. Looking forward to watching you pitch next year. Enjoy your time off!"
You succeeded spectacularly. You and your teammates did make a city and an entire country proud. Thank you from all of us. Let's win it all in '26.
Gausman (10-11) had a 3.59 earned-run average with 189 strikeouts over 193 innings pitched as Toronto's most reliable starter in the regular season.
He's been excellent in the post-season with a 2-1 record over four appearances with a 2.00 ERA and 12 strikeouts over 18 innings.
The 34-year-old Gausman started his career with the Baltimore Orioles, then moved on to the Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants before signing with the Blue Jays as a free agent in 2022.
He's a two-time all-star with a 112-113 record, 3.81 ERA and 1,954 strikeouts over his 13 MLB seasons.
