The Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have designated left-handed relief pitcher Josh Walker for assignment. The DFA doesn't come as a big surprise as Walker has struggled at both levels this year.
The Blue Jays announce they have DFA'd relief pitcher Josh Walker
Toronto announced this morning prior to their final game against the Rays that they have DFA'd relief pitcher Josh Walker along with a few other roster moves involving their catchers.
ROSTER MOVES:
C Ali Sánchez selected to the Major League roster and will be active today
C Tyler Heineman (concussion) placed on 7-day IL, retroactive to May 23
This move does not come as a total surprise since Walker had a tough start to the season this year with a 7.20 ERA in 5.0 innings pitched in the MLB with the Blue Jays.
Toronto signed Walker in the off-season in hopes that he would help with their bullpen issues from last season but it looks like he only made them worst which is why they have decide to DFA him.
Now time will tell if another team will try to make a move on him or if he will end up back in free agency as he will likely not want to return to the minors.
