The Toronto Blue Jays have officially announced Kazuma Okamoto's four- year contract.
The Blue Jays officially announced the signing of Japanese slugger Kazuma Okamoto on Sunday.
Okamoto represents a major splash in the Japanese market, which the Blue Jays have craved for years now.
契約合意しました 🇯🇵🔥OFFICIAL: We've signed 6x NPB All-Star INF Kazuma Okamoto to a four-year contract!
This move comes after the Blue Jays blew the offseason open in November by signing Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million deal.
They later added starter Cody Ponce (three years, $30 million) and reliever Tyler Rogers (three years, $37 million).
Okamoto had a down season with the Yomiuri Giants in 2025
In 2025, Okamoto was limited to 69 games due to a left elbow injury suffered in a collision with a batter running down the line while he was playing first base.
But in those 69 games, he hit .327 with a .416 on-base percentage, .598 slugging percentage, 1.014 OPS, 15 home runs and 49 RBIs.
ブルージェイズへようこそ😃
A six-time NPB All-Star and a member of Japan's World Baseball Classic-winning team in 2023, Okamoto is known for his ability to generate power while still making a lot of hard contact without many strikeouts.
Okamoto's approach fits right into the offensive gameplan that worked so well for the Jays in 2025.
若大将 💪The Young General can CRUSH!
It's clear that the Jays and Rogers Communications (the team's ownership group) are ready to flex their financial muscle more than ever in pursuit of a World Series banner, so more splurges on Bichette or Tucker can't be ruled out.
