The Toronto Blue Jays have released right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold following their 8-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

According to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic, the Toronto Blue Jays confirmed that Connor Seabold has been granted his release, making him a free agent.
Right-hander Lazaro Estrada has also been optioned to Triple-A.
Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling added that Seabold exercised a release clause in his contract, and that there is a lot of competition for the remaining bullpen spot.
Seabold had a release clause in his minor-league deal that was exercised.

Still in the mix for final Blue Jays bullpen spot: Chase Lee, Adam Macko, Yariel Rodriguez, Spencer Miles, Angel Bastardo

Adding from outside the organization is always possible, too

Seabold now a free agent, Estrada returns to Triple-A Buffalo to continue development

Seabold had joined the Blue Jays on a minor-league deal just two months ago.
Over six spring appearances, he pitched 6⅔ innings, recording a 6.75 ERA and hitting three batters.
He struck out 13 hitters during that span but also issued four walks and showed little improvement compared to his limited MLB numbers from 2025.
Used exclusively as a reliever this spring, Seabold had previously served as a swingman in the majors, but the team decided he did not provide enough depth to retain in the organization.
Estrada, 26, was signed out of Cuba in 2018 and spent the first half of 2025 in Triple-A.
He made his MLB debut on July 5 with a four-inning relief appearance against the Angels after having his contract selected in early July.
In total, Estrada appeared in only two major-league games, giving up seven earned runs over 7⅓ innings, but he also demonstrated a strong ability to generate strikeouts.
He features a four-pitch repertoire, including a 93 mph four-seam fastball, slider, sinker, and occasional curveball.
With less than a year of service time and two minor-league option years remaining, Estrada will return to Triple-A to continue his development.
The Blue Jays wrap up their spring schedule on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays before beginning the regular season at home against the Oakland Athletics on March 27.
