Everyone knows about Toronto Blue Jays rookie sensation Trey Yesavage.

With Spring Training fast approaching, Toronto Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage is set to carry the momentum of a postseason for the ages into the new year.
Selected 20th overall in the 2024 MLB Draft, Yesavage opened the 2025 campaign with Single-A Dunedin, marking his first taste of professional baseball.
What followed was a meteoric rise through the organization, as the right-hander rocketed up the minor-league ranks and earned a spot in the Blue Jays' rotation by mid-September.
Across four minor-league levels in 2025, Yesavage posted a stellar 3.12 ERA and 2.52 FIP over 98 innings.
His ability to miss bats set him apart from the rest of the field. He finished the season with a jaw-dropping 41.1 percent strikeout rate, totaling 160 strikeouts-fourth-most in the minors-and the highest mark of any pitcher who logged at least 50 innings.
Given his dominance, a late-season call-up to the majors felt inevitable. Yesavage made three regular-season starts for Toronto, finishing with a 3.21 ERA and 2.35 FIP across 14 innings.
He also earned a spot on the Blue Jays' postseason roster, where he quickly made his presence felt.
In his postseason debut-and just the fourth start of his big-league career-Yesavage delivered one of the most memorable performances in MLB playoff history.
The rookie struck out 11 New York Yankees over five and one-third hitless innings, instantly announcing himself on the sport's biggest stage.

While his next outing in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series was more uneven, Yesavage still rose to the moment in a must-win Game 6, allowing just two runs while striking out seven over five and two-thirds innings.
Despite beginning the season in Single-A with no prior professional experience, the 22-year-old was entrusted with starting Game 1 of the World Series.
In an 11-4 victory, he worked four innings, surrendering two earned runs, issuing three walks, and recording five strikeouts.
Five days later, Yesavage delivered another historic effort. He punched out 12 Los Angeles Dodgers across seven innings of one-run ball, marking the only postseason appearance in which he did not issue a walk.

Yesavage's postseason performance pushed Toronto to the brink of a World Series title

Though the World Series ultimately slipped away, Yesavage still played a role in Game 7, appearing out of the bullpen and earning a hold despite allowing a solo home run to Max Muncy.
All told, he finished the postseason with a 3.58 ERA and 3.60 FIP across 27.2 innings.
Because postseason games do not count toward service time, Yesavage exits October with just 14 days of MLB service.
That keeps him firmly in rookie status and eligible for the 2026 Rookie of the Year award.
Even if that honor eludes him, Yesavage could still provide significant value to the organization.
Under MLB's Prospect Promotion Incentive, he would remain eligible to net the Blue Jays a compensatory draft pick over the next two seasons, provided he finishes third or better in Cy Young or MVP voting.
