Shane Bieber is going to have a big decision to make.

The former Cy Young Winner and All-Star was acquired at the trade deadline by the Blue Jays. With his contract expiring at the end of the year, there have already been questions about whether or not he will return about whether or not he will return, or whether Toronto is saddled with a rental.
One team that looks to capitalize on Bieber's looming free agency is the San Francisco Giants.
Having just missed out on a wildcard spot, President - and Giants legend - Buster Posey will be looking to improve his club, most notably his pitching staff.
Posey's most significant moves in his first season as president of baseball operations came on the hitting side, signing shortstop Willy Adames to a franchise-record seven-year, $182MM deal and landing third baseman Rafael Devers in a midseason trade with the Boston Red Sox.
Posey will now turn his attention to pitching, the former catcher told Alex Pavlovic and Laura Britt of NBC Sports in an interview this week.
«I think our focus is going to be on pitching, to try to fortify our starting staff. The same goes with the bullpen.»

San Francisco got solid contributions from the ever-reliable Logan Webb and a strong year from Robbie Ray in his first full season after Tommy John surgery. Behind Webb and Ray, the Giants' rotation was largely a mess.
Shane Bieber has pitched at least 5.1 innings in all 6 starts this season.

That is the longest streak of more than 5.0 IP to begin a #BlueJays career since David Price in 2015 (7).
Andrew Baggarly of the Athletic thinks that Bieber will fit right in and be nice complement to Logan Webb and former Blue Jay Robbie Ray

No indication, talks from either side about a potential move

Former Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber would be an attractive target because he won't require draft pick compensation, isn't expected to command a lengthy contract and still has a high ceiling. The Giants need to take a lesson from the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, who have stockpiled pitching while continuing to distance themselves from the pack in the NL West. The Giants must be aggressive, creative and open-minded in every phase of the starting pitching market.

Neither Bieber nor the Blue Jays have indicated one way or another what the future might hold, but there seems to be mutual interest in having Bieber remain a Blue Jay.
Only time will tell.
